Each year Washington, DC celebrates the Fourth of July with a bang. Along with viewing the dynamic fireworks show on the National Mall and attending the free A Capitol Fourth concert, visitors can celebrate America’s birthday in dozens of venues and in a multitude of ways. Check out all of the entertaining places where revelers can experience the fun and spirit of Independence Day in the most American of settings.

Washington Nationals vs. Boston Red Sox

The Nationals’ 11:05 a.m. Independence Day game is now a tradition in the District. This year, the four-time division champions will take on Mookie Betts, J.D. Martinez and the Boston Red Sox, one of the best teams in the American League. Expect an early crowd as the city enjoys the national pastime whilst celebrating a national holiday.

2018 MLB All-Star Week – July 13-17

Calling all baseball fans: Make your plans to visit DC for the first MLB All-Star Game in the nation’s capital since 1969. Experience the full week of festivities, including the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game™ (July 15), the T-Mobile Home Run Derby® (July 16) and 89th MLB All-Star Game® presented by Mastercard (July 17). The 2018 All-Star FanFest® (July 13-17) will be hosted at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Reminisce over summer nights at the campsite with this Newseum Nights event. Once the counselors have gone to bed, you can enjoy an open bar. There’s also a dining hall with camp-themed snacks like fried mac n’ cheese balls, Old Bay tater tots and Sloppy Joe sliders. In addition, the event features live music, camp games, a karaoke talent show, a post-card designing station, a Crafts Cabin and gallery talks.

Rock Creek Park Tennis Center plays host to this DC summer sporting tradition, now in its 50th year. International tennis stars will battle in front of thousands of fans during the week-long tournament. As always, the lineup features talent from all over the world, including Alexander Zverev, Kevin Anderson and John Isner in the men’s field and Caroline Wozniacki, Sloane Stephens and Naomi Osaka in the women’s field.
